Description

This 1-gallon hive top feeder is a great option to feed your 10-frame Langstroth hives. Due to its low height, it fits well into a shallow, medium or deep box on top of the inner cover. Bees crawl up through the bottom into the feed area, and due to the rough plastic on the inside, are better-able to crawl their way out. This gives it more versatility than most other top feeders such as a pail feeder.

Note: This feeder won't work with our horizontal Top Bar hives, Warre hives, or 8 frame Langs, due to its size—it needs a 10-frame (8-frame aren't wide enough)

Dimensions: 15½" x 13" x 3". Holds 1 gallon of liquid.

Good feeder, just be careful when handling: Flimsy weak handling support

Good feeder, like how there's a cover for it to protect the liquid since I had ants and they couldn't enter it thanks to the cover. All I had to do was place this feeder on top of my frames, add a box on top of it (since the size fits inside a deep for mine), outer cover, roof and presto it's all good. Also the fact that it's plastic is great since wood likes to absorb water, so since it's plastic all the girls can have all of the food they want. MY ONLY COMPLAINT: The design is weak and flimsy when handling full of sugar water! It's not sturdy like wooden feeders and I expected it to be sturdy (like Tupperware) yet I ended up wasting some good sugar water because of the flimsy support design when handling. Please do fix this.

Good design; be careful cleaning

This feeder worked reasonably well for me - until I made the poor decision to put it into the dishwasher. The lid and tray both warped just enough to make it useless. So, if you purchase, don’t make the same mistake. As for the design, I like the simplicity and ease of use. The bees had no trouble using it and very few drowned. The plastic is thin enough that it will flex when picked up while full.
