When placing your hive outdoors, select a location that is easy for you, the beekeeper, to work around. Think about how easy mowing or trimming will be for you and consider who and what will be around it. Bees fly up and out, and hover near the entrance, but they don’t like a lot of activity near their entrances. It puts them on alert and makes them pay attention to you, not their important work of foraging and storing pollen and honey.
